FUNDING

Sadly my StartMe Funding Project came to an end,  result, I received R 170 of R 18000. On a positive note, that will buy me duct tape to mark the actor’s positions in front of the camera. Now I just have to wait until I get enough money to pay the actors to place on the marks in front of the camera. My Indigogo Crowd Funding project is still going and will end on the 18th of January. So if you feel the urge to get rid of some of your unwanted Rands or Dollars, you can go to Indigogo and donate to a worthy cause, the first crowd funding B-Movie in South Africa, Goodwood ever.

For the people that do not know what I’m talking about, read my Blog. For the people who donated funds, thank you again.

DREAM YOUR DREAM

The music video, Dream your Dream, shot entirely on green screen, is almost finished. It still needs a beginning, ending and extra footage in the middle.

UPDATE

I did not forget about the movie, just busy trying to get funding. Up to now, the campaign on Indiegogo raised $145.00. I would like to thank all the people that made contributions once again.

ADVICE FOR INDEPENDENT FILM MAKERS

Here’s advice from film maker John Singleton, director of , “2Fast 2 Furious”, amongst others.  Watch the highlights from his keynote address at the 2012 Film Independent Forum.

OPENING SCENE

I finished the first draft of my script, to read it you can go to the “Script and Storyboard” menu on my blog. I left out the last ten pages, can’t give away the plot, you will have to wait for the movie! The full script is currently being edited by a lecturer at UCT,  (University of Cape Town) when you read my original draft, you will know why.  I also changed the name of the movie, it’s now called, “THERE WILL BE BLOOD.” It might sound a little familiar, but I’m going to stick with it for now, unless, Paramount, Miramax and Ghoulardi, the production companies for, There will be blood – 2007, have a problem with it.

I would like to explain how I’m going to shoot the opening scene. Below you will find the script’s opening scene and below that, the shooting script for the opening scene and below that, what it will take to shoot the opening scene.

SCRIPT

INT. DOOR – NIGHT

It is pitch black, a flickering light appears underneath the door.Dim at first but growing brighter as it moves closer. The chrome door handle turns and the door opens slowly with a faint screeching sound. A young woman is visible in the dim light, she is holding a candle, the flickering light reveals her naked body, covered in blood, trembling. She can hear moans coming from outside the window, she approaches slowly and pulls the curtain to the side. She puts her face closer to the window, her nose almost touches the glass.

She lifts the candle higher when a woman’s face appears on the other side of the window, her two bloodied hands, pushed against the glass, followed by an earth shattering scream. Her face disappears in the darkness again and her hands slide down the window, leaving a bloody trail. The candle falls from the young woman’s hand, the flame dies as it hits the floor, leaving the room pitch black.

It is quiet, apart from the young girls anxious breathing. A muffled voice from the dark disturbs the silence, the woman starts to cry, she knows that someone is behind her.

VOICE IN THE DARK

You spilled the blood…

The young woman’s screams fade into the dark.

INDEPENDENT MOVIE MAKERS

I’ve just been made aware of a site, intending  to promote independent films. 15toGo will be initially entirely dependent on independent pledges fromtheir supporters and crowd funding.  You can pledge a contribution to the development of 15toGo. You will find a full list of the perks that you’ll get by pledging to the project – many are particualy helpful to film makers. If you can’t pledge you can still help. Your support by helping to spread the word about 15toGo , will be massively appreciated, they want to involve anyone and everyone who wants to be involved… The more the merrier. To find out more about their ambitious project, feel free to explore the blog. Steffan Lewis, himself, will be finding the time to frequently contribute and update this blog, along with others – so feel free to comment, request to contribute to this blog, discuss ideas or ask questions.
